My name is Lindsay Thomson and I live
on a 12 acre property (Blackpines) in Willunga, South Australia with my
husband Luke, 4 Bernese Mountain Dogs (plus the occasional visitor) sheep,
chickens and some cows.
I have always loved animals, dogs
in particular and was often found with stray dogs in tow, bringing them
home and begging to keep them.
I have had Bernese Mountain Dogs
since early 2002, they are such a wonderful and enchanting breed, I regret
not having discovered them earlier. We enjoy our dogs first and foremost
as our treasured companions. We show our dogs successfully throughout
Australia and participate in obedience....aiming for Beauty and
Brains!
I've met so many wonderful people
both in Australia and Internationally through my involvement with this
breed. I have been lucky enough to travel around Australia, to New Zealand,
The United States, Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden to show Bernese, attend
Breed Specialties, National Specialties and the World Dog Show.
I have imported multiple dogs and
frozen semen from overseas to expand the limited bloodlines available
in the Southen Hemisphere, introducing stunning type, solid temperaments,
healthy and exceptional pedigrees from many of the best kennels in the
world. Vevey is dedicated to continue to import excellent bloodlines,
with the help of our wonderful and generous friends throughout the Berner
world allowing us to share their dogs.
Have a look through my links page
for information on the breed and extensive health links.
We are members of the South Australian
Canine Association, Bernese Mountain Dog Club Of SA, The Tracking Dog
Club of SA, Bernese Mountain Dog Club Of Victoria, the Bernese Mountain
Dog Club of New Zealand, Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America and Noarlunga
City Obedience Dog Club.
I bred the Utility Rising Star Award
in New Zealand for 2011 and the same dog (Multi RUBIS NZ CH Vevey Beowulf
V Blassis) owned and adored by Nathalie Sperling is arguably the top winning
berner in NZ or all time, with numerous Class in Group and In Show awards,
Best In Group and Runner Up Best Exhibit in All Breeds Show...all before
turning 10 months old!!!
From the few litters I have bred
we have multiple Best Of Breed, Class in Group and In Show berners. Ch
Vevey Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing is one of the youngest Bernese Mountain
Dogs ever to gain her Champion title at only 10 months of age.
I am very conscious of the health
of my dogs and animals in general, I am the DNA collection agent in South
Australia for Animal Network a division of Genetic Technologies. Animal
Network is at the forefront of canine DNA technologies and research, pioneering
advances in pedigree dog profiling, genetic disease and trait testing.
We chose our prefix VEVEY (pronounced Ver - Vay) after
the town of VEVEY- a beautiful resort town on the North Shore of Lake
Geneva in Switzerland. Vevey is where milk chocolate was invented in 1857
(something dear to my heart : )
Leave a legacy...please enter your Berner in Bernergarde.

This beautiful painting of Tanner
at 8 months was done by our very talented friend Andrea from Aarions bernese.
